Seeking to expand the commercial market for some of its technologies developed for civilian applications, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will showcase 35 such products in the forthcoming India-Africa business meet.
"The India-Africa Business Partnership Summit will start from Wednesday at Hyderabad . On the sidelines of the summit, DRDO will showcase some of the technology developed by it in the area of food, life sciences and environment," DRDO officials said here today.
The technology and products that will be showcased during the summit include high-end engineering applications for ensuring food security, fighting pandemics, handling climate change, disaster management and counter-terrorism.
DRDO has signed an agreement with FICCI to develop some of the technologies for civilian market application which have further been transferred to private sector for mass production, the officials said.
"This programme is first-of-its-kind to be undertaken by DRDO in association with FICCI to actively spin out several of DRDO"s technologies for appropriate commercial markets both nationally and internationally," they said.
The two-day business summit would bring together ministers, CEOs, heads of various corporations, and independent consultants to share and showcase business opportunities for Indian and African market.
